Our mission is to connect and support psychedelic societies, entheogenic groups and individuals across Canada by facilitating barrier-free access to information, community, and resources about the safe and responsible use of psychedelics, non-ordinary states of consciousness and entheogenic substances.

We believe that community and connection are essential components of psychedelic knowledge, meaning-making and exploration. We believe that when used responsibly, safely and with humility, entheogens can support deep connection with ourselves and each other, fostering respect for the Earth, all living things, ourselves and a sacred (re)connection to Source. We advocate for the decriminalization of all drugs and take a harm-reduction approach to engaging, educating and creating spaces for connection.

Our Values

Inclusivity
  • Psychedelic Canada aims to welcome all people, and works to foster a safe and inclusive psychedelic culture that creates spaces and welcomes all identities and intersectionalities.
  • All Canadian Psychedelic Societies are welcome to participate, collaborate and create with Psychedelic Canada. If your community does not yet have a psychedelic society, we will support you in setting up a group in your community. We are a grassroots movement, and encourage people to feel empowered to create and directly engage in psychedelic community and culture.
  • Inclusivity is an ongoing process that recognizes and promotes diversity, equity, freedom from discrimination, and accessibility. We believe that these foundations of social, radical and environmental justice offer personal and social healing.
  • Respect - We hold in high esteem the feelings, rights, and traditions of everyone. We build common ground with divergent communities.
  • Humility - We honour each person’s and each psychedelic society’s journey and unfolding. We support their emergence and ongoing efforts to engage lovingly in the world.
  • Interconnection - We acknowledge that interconnection is the fundamental relationship of the Earth, its peoples, and the more-than-human world.

Accountability and Integrity
  • Trust - We believe that trust is fundamental to a loving and compassionate community. We work to build bridges of trust and understanding with one another. To disband the years of mistrust and misunderstanding fostered by decades of disinformation through the war on drugs. We create and strengthen ties of reciprocity and trust.
  • Honesty - Working with integrity means allowing space for the light and the dark, for making mistakes and owning the consequences as well as the achievement of our choices and actions. We strive for rigorous transparency as we work to serve the psychedelic society community in Canada.
  • Authenticity - Organizations and psychedelic society are ultimately made up of people - in all of our human and complicated glory. We commit to doing our best to show up as our best selves, to share what we know, what we do and how we do it. We listen and respond to differences with open ears and hearts. We strive to speak with an authentic voice as individuals and as a community.

Compassion
  • Service - We prioritize the good of our collective humanity and planet over organizational or individual gain. We strive to honour the communities, ancestral and modern traditions, and struggles we have learned from by practicing reciprocity and working for the good of future generations.
  • Sustainability (compassion to the Earth) - We acknowledge the ancestral lands of the indigenous people upon which we walk. We are committed to engaging in respectful and sustainable ways with psychedelic and plant teachers, and encourage an engagement with psychedelics that supports regenerative earth practices and creates resilient communities.
  • Love - Love is the underlying principle that guides what we do and why we are doing it - as an organization, and as psychedelic societies. Love connects form and formlessness, the spiritual and the material. Its power is subtle, sweeping and strong. We cultivate this force for the benefit of ourselves and each other, the Earth, our communities, and society.

Community Guidelines

Guided by our community values, Psychedelic Canada believes that mutual respect, boundaries and shared responsibility are at the heart of safe and supportive community engagement. These guidelines summarize a living process of discovering and articulating the ways in which we safely and respectfully engage with each other as a community.

Please do not ask others questions which also may inadvertently cause them to incriminate themselves, and please take care not to incriminate yourself.
  • Psychedelic Canada is volunteer run, and we need your help to make it the best community it can be. Respect each other and remember to criticize ideas, not people. Harassment and bullying will not be tolerated. Don’t be a jerk.
